A route that runs between two districts, L'Alacantí and L'Alcoià. We set off from Torremanzanas and enter the Sierra de Els Plans, which we will skirt around and later cross the Sierra de la Carrasqueta, a mountain range of great ecological and scenic value. We can visit several well-preserved ice pits and enjoy some incredible views, along paths and roads that once joined rural homes for agricultural use.
We start from Torremanzanas along the path that follows the river Torre as far as the CV–780 road, along which we will continue towards Benifallim until the turn-off to the path climbing to Els Plans.
The path leads us to the beautiful Rentonar ice pit, which still has its masonry dome.
We continue across the range, in a sou- thwesterly direction, along a track that ascends to the transmitter masts on the Carrasqueta located next to the El Pou del Surdo ice pit, with a capacity of around 1.150 m3 and offering magnificent views.
After a visit to the ice pit we follow the ecological trail that shows us the characteristic species of the area such as the blue broom, mastic or the Mediterranean dwarf palm.
We reach the CV-800 road and head towards Els Plantadets along a dirt track located on the Carrasqueta, which has this name because of the large amount of kermes oaks.
After crossing several pine forests and fields of crops, at the 1.5 km mark we leave the track to start a steep climb towards the Els Esbarzerets mountain hut. From there, we will climb to the Alto de la Carrasqueta, 1.205 metres above sea level, where we can admire El Cabeçó d'Or, the Migjorn, the Cape of Santa Pola, Tabarca Island, as well as the Font Roja.
After delighting in the beautiful views we will return to the Els Esbarzerets mountain hut to start our descent to the municipality of Ibi, coinciding in this section with the PR-CV 128, the Camino de Carrascal.
We descend through an ancient estate and the farmhouse of Anselmo, an area that boasts a great variety of species, the highlights being an endemic variety of orchid.
We leave the track and by an asphalt road next to the Boquera ravine we cross the highway that joins Alicante with Alcoi to enter the municipality of Ibi.
